At The Old Riverton Inn
The Royal Coachman Tavern opened in May of 2020 and is housed in the historic Old Riverton Inn building which dates back to 1796. Named after the Royal Coachman fly, the tavern honors the rich fishing heritage of the Farmington River. For more than 220 years, anglers have visited this property after a day on the water, making it a cherished local landmark.
We proudly offer an exciting selection of the region’s best beers along with a full wine list and handcrafted cocktails. We offer fresh, flavorful, home-made dishes to satisfy every appetite. Whether you craving something light, keeping it healthy or looking to dive-in head first, we’ve got you covered!

The Royal Coachman is an artificial fly that has been tied as a wet fly, dry fly and streamer pattern. Today, the Royal Coachman and its variations are tied mostly as dry flies and fished floating on the water surface. It is a popular and widely used pattern for freshwater game fish, particularly trout and grayling. Large streamer versions are also used for winter steelhead and Atlantic salmon.

“My family recently hosted my baby shower here and it was perfect, to say the least! The room was set up beautifully with fall décor and twinkle lights. The service was AMAZING – guests were provided with coffee and refreshments immediately, and also had the option of getting alcohol at the bar within the tavern. The food was excellent and at the end of the event, remaining goodies were packed up so guests could take them home. Everything was just perfect! We can’t thank Sherice and team enough for all their hard work to make it such a special day. 100% recommend the Riverton Inn for your next party or gathering!”
